Mother

A mother trickles down those lost and lonely stairs
People tell her that she’s beautiful but she doesn’t seem to care
To catch her off the box is a rare sight indeed
Another world, another planet she really wants to be
Because she does not partake in the shallow things we do
Her orb contains a heart bigger than any of us knew
Stronger than the waves crashing upon that frightful sea
Her blue and grey stories meant everything to me
She sings her songs of courage, she sings her songs of grace
Her poetic words of parting the men always have to chase
As a little girl she skipped and granted other people magic
Soft hands floating above the piano like doves who seem to have it
Go now into the unknown without fear
Please, can’t someone tell her she knows her destiny?
She knows her inevitable point in time, you see
I decided to walk into your dream and not only inspire but
I changed it
Because I’m your umbrella you carry with you
Through the rain which seldom breaks your heart
Sleep tight my dear, for soon you’ll feel the Arizona sun
And with conviction it tells you the new day has begun.
